Most of our work is made possible by the volunteer and pro bono engagement of experts. This approach ensures that we are able to invest our finite resources where they are needed the most - in the places we work in and for the partners we work with.


 

OUR TEAM

Philippe Schucht M.D.
Philippe Schucht is a Professor of neurosurgery at Inselspital, University of Bern in Switzerland. Philippe has previously worked in the townships of Khayelitsha, Capetown (South Africa), as well as the universities of Montpellier (France) and San Francisco (USA). Philippe is the founder of Swiss Neurosurgeons International,  Member of its Board and in charge of SNI`s Myanmar operations.

Dominique Kuhlen M.D.
Dominique Kuhlen is an attending neurosurgeon at Ospedale Civico di Lugano. She previously worked at Klinikum rechts der Isar, University of Munich (Germany) and at Inselspital, University of Bern (Switzerland) and is a renowned expert in spinal neurosurgery.

 

Antoine Weber
A former Programm coordinator for the Swiss Red Cross, Antoine Weber has worked for decades in Asia, and is active in medical and housing projects throughout south-east Asia today. Antoine has been a senior consultant for Swiss Neurosurgeons International since 2012.  

Kathleen Seidel M.D.
Kathleen Seidel is attending physician in the department of neurosurgery at the Inselspital Bern. Her main focus is intraoperative neurophysiology (IOM) to guide tumor surgery and improve patient safety in high risk procedures. After a fellowship in New York, she did establish the Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Unit in Bern University Hospital, which is hosting regularly international observers. She is supporting IOM projects in India. Since 2018, Kathleen heads a project to build up a sustainable state-of-the-art IOM services in Myanmar on behalf of SNI.

 

Gaudenz Trapp von Matsch
Gaudenz Trapp has been serving as treasurer and chief fund-raiser for Swiss Neurosurgeons International since 2014. When not active for SNI Gaudenz acts as Member of the Executive Board of IHAG Holding Corporation in Zürich. 

Irena Zubak M.D.
Irena is a neurosurgeon based in Bern, Switzerland, specializing in neuro-oncologic neurosurgery. Irena plays a key role in supervising the fellowship program for Myanmar neurosurgery residents in Switzerland, and is actively involved in supporting local training in Myanmar, be it by organizing and leading hands-on craniotomy workshops and educational lectures for neurosurgical residents across the country.

 

Vasilisa Sabaeva
Vasilisa manages public relations and social media for Swiss Neurosurgeons International, helping to share the organization’s work with a global audience.

Philippe Montant
Philippe has 30 years of experience in banking and is currently active as an independent board member in several Swiss pension funds and charitable foundations.
